In the Colombian legal system, there are individuals recognized as subjects of special protection (SEP). Among them, children, pregnant and lactating mothers, people with disabilities, and those belonging to certain minorities require reinforced, “double” protection from the State and all its institutions. This happens for two reasons: firstly, the historical situation of vulnerability and exclusion that these groups have endured. No one can doubt the marginalization historically experienced, for example, by members of indigenous or LGBTQ+ communities.
